About us

Transportation is crucial to everyone's life and to the life of the community. Without it, individuals cannot access essentials for living such as food, medical services and more and often live in isolation.

Established in 1980 as a volunteer organization bringing senior citizens to medical appointments and to church, South Lane Wheels has evolved a great deal over the past 25 years. Begining with a single bus volunteer drivers, and no operating funds to become the primary transportation resoruce in south Lane County. Our staff and volunteer drivers provide approximately 25,000 rides to doctors, work, school, nutrition sites, churches, shopping, and special events covering more than 200,000 miles a year. We get riders to other vital community services such as Community Sharing, Cottage Grove Recreation, Parent Partnership, and Adult and Family Services and often collaborate with these agencies to satisfy their transportation needs. South Lane Wheels is contracted by the state to provide medical and non-medical transportation, and is the designated rural transportation provider for the general public of south Lane County. All of our vehicles are wheelchair accessible and our drivers are specially trained to assist those with special needs.

South Lane Wheels enhances our riders Quality of Life and helps them to remain independent.

What drives us

The need for all citizens--young, old, disabled or poor--to have access to transportation to get them to where they need to be. Without accessable transportation, many would be doomed to living a life of isolation.

Who are we

It takes quite a group of people to make South Lane Wheels run smoothly. From our dispatcher to our drivers to our director to our volunteers in the office and on the buses, everyday people are hard at work to make sure you get wherever life takes you.
